Little Tikes Shape, Sort, and Scatter

The boys (Daddy included) know that it’s not OK to play with the toys until Mommy takes pictures of them.  So this Little Tikes Shape, Sort, and Scatter has been teasing them for the last several days – and they’ve been trying to play with it as much as they can in the box!  I finally decided it was time to open it up and see how both boys responded to this new learning toy.Little Tikes Shape, Sort, and Scatter

Ethan has had a ton of fun with the Shape, Sort, and Scatter – He claps and screams, ‘Yayyyy!!!’ when he pushes the button and they all fall out.  It’s a nice little piece of controlled chaos for him to cause and get his toddler urges out.

Little Tikes Shape, Sort, and Scatter

Andrew really enjoys the toy, too.  There are 3 settings from easy to hard – Andrew still prefers the first setting for now, because he doesn’t like to follow directions – but there are games on there, where it will ask you to find a certain shape/color and put that one through, making this a toy that can grow with them instead of ending up as just a hand-me-down.

Little Tikes Shape, Sort, and Scatter

Stage One: Shape Sorting
When a block is placed into its shape hole the toy says the name of the block and color. When you get every shape inside the toy, the bottom drops out and the blocks scatter so that you can start again.

Stage Two: Harder Shape Sorting
This one is a learning mode for toddlers. The toy will ask them to find a certain block, color or number which are all assigned to different blocks. If they use the right piece the toy will show a green light.  If not, the bottom drops out for them to try again.

Stage Three: Preschooler Game
Older children who have learned their shapes and colors can use this timed game to learn and sharpen their skills. As the toy calls out shapes or colors the child must find that block and get it in before the timer runs out.

Little Tikes Shape, Sort, and Scatter

This talkative little toy comes in three languages and has all of the controls including volume hidden on the bottom of the base away from curious little fingers.  The controls for switching the mode and making the big exciting scatter are easy to get to.  Little Tikes suggests this toy for ages 9 months and up, and I really agree with the “and up” part.  I expect this to be something they are still able to play with for quite a while to come.

You can get your own Shape, Sort, and Scatter from the Little Tikes Online Store for only $29.99.

I like toys that will grow with a child, and this one has a volume control to adjust the sounds. The three different languages and stages are cool too.

I love shape sorters, they are just so classic! I also love that this one grows with the child and not something they’d outgrow quick or easily get bored with!
