How Busy Parents can Beat Weekday Stress

Juggling work with caring for the kids is no easy task. Being a parent is full-on, and your life can feel like a constant stream of laundry, housework, running the kids about, working, and cooking. With so many things to do, weekdays can become a stressful time, which can begin to grind you down. If you feel like you are stuck on a constant treadmill with no chance of stepping off anytime soon, you need to take back control of your weekday stress.

No one can change how many hours there are in a week, but what you can change is how you spend them. Cutting down on your weekday stress by introducing some clever hacks will help you to get more enjoyment from day to day life. It will also help you to appreciate the time spent with your kids, rather than feeling stressed and rushing around.

Write it Down

Keeping a calendar is essential for busy parents. With so many thoughts floating around in your head, it can be hard to remember everything that needs to be done. Writing down everything you need to do on a planner will help to ensure that you don’t forget anything. Whether it is your kid’s friend’s birthday party or that important football game, having the dates written down means that there’s no last-minute panic to deal with and that you can get organized in plenty of time.

Prepare for the Week Ahead

Before the craziness that is Monday rolls around, it is wise to spend some time prepping for the week ahead. Of course, you don’t want to spend your whole precious weekend carrying out chores, but it is well worth taking a look at your schedule for the week ahead and making some preparations. A little bit of planning on the weekend will be much appreciated by yourself later in the week. Preparing for the week ahead could be picking up your kid’s costume for the school play, or washing their sports kit in advance. Anything that you know will stress you out later in the week if you don’t do it now.

Cook Up a Plan

After a long day at work, the last thing that you want to do is spend hours cooking a meal for the family. Instead of spending your whole evening in the kitchen, you need some fast weeknight dinner ideas on hand.

Planning what you are going to cook each evening, and ensuring that each meal is quick and easy to prepare (and delicious too!) will help to take a whole load of stress away from your weekday evenings. Keep your pantry stocked with the essential ingredients that you need for your speedy evening meals to make life even easier for yourself. This should mean that you never again need to peer desperately into the pantry, waiting for some cooking inspiration to hit you. Instead, you will have recipes and ingredients to hand to help you quickly prepare something tasty for the whole family.
