Toddler Talking
I’m getting bigger, quickly, and so is Micah! He’s growing like a weed. He still doesn’t talk much, a few words like kitty or ball here and there, but he definitely knows what things are. He’ll throw trash away, go get whatever we tell him to (providing he knows where it is) and has some baby sign language down pat (please, thank you, and all done). He’s a little smartie.
Toddler Snacks and Eating
Micah loves snacking. He would eat all day long if he wanted. The thing he won’t eat (drink actually) – milk. He spits it back out. He will drink almond milk, but not much of it. So, I’m perfectly happy letting him snack on yogurt and cheese. He also snacks on grapes, cherry tomatoes, lunchables, and other fruits. He loves his veggies too, like broccoli and carrots, but those take more effort so don’t make quick snacks.
His new snack: popsicles. Like Otter Pops and other little liquid-til-frozen tube popsicles that are super cheap, easy to eat and probably not incredibly healthy. But, they are cold and refreshing, especially on sore gums or hot days. I also make him yogurt popsicles in our little Munchkin popsicle trays.
He’s definitely a messy eater, but he’s figured out spoons and forks and loves being able to eat “like a big boy” even though he always comes out looking like he needs another bath.
Halfway through my pregnancy!
I’m a little over halfway through being pregnant. I’m starting to put on weight and definitely have a little tummy sticking out. My pants are tight but most of my shorts fall below my belly anyways so it’s ok. The heat here is definitely going to be uncomfortable, but Micah loves playing in the water outside, so I’ll just join him to stay cool.
Easter and future plane trips!
We spent Easter with our surrogate “grandparents” here, just relaxing and enjoying. Micah loves running around their house and playing with them, and they spoil him rotten just like his real grandparents, so he loved it. Plus he had two more little friends in the nursery at church, which made him and me happy. I hope and pray they will continue to come! Micah could use some playmates and the church definitely needs more 20s and 30s age people!
Micah was really too young to understand Easter this year, but I look forward to teaching him about Easter, both as a fun celebration and as an incredibly meaningful death and resurrection of Jesus and what that means to us as God’s children. For now, he hunted eggs when Peter’s family was here, and he found some eggs and treats today, plain old fun.
Other excitement, we booked plane tickets to go back to MN for 6 days in late June! It’ll be quick, lots of people to see and catch up with in a short time, but it’ll be fun and good to see people!
