Soothing Solo Activities to Enjoy When You Need a Break

As a parent, you know what it is like to have that golden hour of alone time when everyone else is sleeping or otherwise engaged. There is something super thrilling about having a moment to yourself to do something that soothes your soul. Whether you’re cooking up a delicious blueberry muffin recipe or you’re challenging yourself to a word puzzle, there are so many ways in which you can relax and enjoy yourself whilst you’re on your own. If you’re in need of some inspiration, here are a few go-to activities that you should definitely have on your bucket list.

Word Games

If you have never taken part in word games, puzzles or apps involving anagrams, then you seriously haven’t lived. These games are surprisingly soothing and pretty addictive too. You can download them straight to your phone, so you can access them anytime those words for you. If you get stuck with any words, you can unscramble words here. Having a handful of these games on your phone will give you that chill out time you need.

Baking

Getting lost in the kitchen for an hour or two is seriously soothing. You don’t need to follow any restrictive recipes or give yourself a deadline; just allow your creativity to flow and enjoy mixing ingredients together that you really love. Whether you’re testing out a new chocolate chip cookie recipe or baking a cake with your favorite vegetables, you might just create a recipe that tastes absolutely amazing!

Reading

Nothing soothes the mind like a bit of light reading. Get lost in a romance novel or lighten your mood with a comedy; there are truly no limits when it comes to reading, so find your favorite genre and roll with it. You should never underestimate the power of a beauty treatment when you’re feeling tired and overwhelmed. A solid hour in the bath, a new skincare regime or a massage can work absolutely wonders for your soul. If you really want to treat yourself, you could even give yourself a full facial in the comfort of your own home. Finding those little moments to give yourself a taste of luxury is worth so much more than you realize. If you don’t give yourself those moments you will slowly burnout. Find the right way to give yourself that little extra treat and enjoy every single moment of it.

Once you start to incorporate these soothing solo activities into your life, you will feel so much happier. You need this time on your own to focus on yourself and enjoy doing something that makes you feel enriched. Take that extra long bubble bath or indulge in a word game that challenges your mind; you deserve it!
