Nuby Tear Free Rinse Pail
My kids love bath time. They hate washing their hair. Despise washing their hair. Something about water over their heads terrifies them. Granted, they get over it. I wash fast, hear angry squalls for a minute, then re-distract with toys. The Nuby Tear Free Rinse Pail is meant to be the solution!
The idea behind the Nuby Tear Free Rinse Pail is that the soft rubber edge can press against a child’s forehead to stop the water from pouring over his face. Theoretically, this quells their fears and makes hair washing tear free!
My 3-year-old and 1-year-old don’t exactly agree with this idea. I think my 1-year-old is against it because the 3-year-old is, and because it’s new and scary to have cup against her forehead. Had I started using the Nuby Rinse Pail when she was just a few months old, it probably would be old hat and totally awesome.
My 3-year-old I think is simply against anything new. He doesn’t understand it and isn’t quite old enough for me to explain it. Even more so, the first few times I used it I wasn’t used to how to hold it an him, so it came apart from his forehead and he got water on his face anyways. I think in another year he’ll be able to understand the concept and not be scared, but I’m really hoping he won’t be scared of water on his face anymore either.
Overall, the Nuby Tear Free Rinse Pail is a great idea for a really young kiddo, like 5 months or so, that doesn’t yet think ahead enough to worry about it. Then they’ll just think it’s part of the routine and not be scared of a new method. Or, it would be great for a little one who is old enough to understand the concept and hates water on her face, so mom can explain ahead of time and prevent water and shampoo on her face. My kids just aren’t the right ages for introducing it right now, so we use it as a big, fun bathtime cup!
