Great Easter Gifts for Preschoolers #Easter #GiftGuide #Spring

I love Easter. Celebrating Jesus defeating death, enjoying the beginning of spring, having fun with family and egg hunts, and extra get togethers with church family. Eggs and chocolate bunnies are great, but I don’t think Easter is the new Christmas. I don’t want to shower my kids with gifts. I do like the idea of a present or two and a bit of candy. And colored eggs that become deviled eggs! I’m especially all for more little gifts and less candy. Here are some great gifts I know preschoolers will love:

Outdoor Toys

Go as big or little as you want. Little Tikes makes great toys like Cozy Coupe and Dirt Diggers. Or find fun things like bubbles, sprinklers, chalk, hula hoops, and soccer balls. Maybe some construction toys for the sandbox!

Water Balloons

My kids would give their right legs for a bag of water balloons. They love playing with them. I do mind blowing them up, so we go cheap and buy 100 for $1 at the Dollar Tree. Or you can get the pre-loaded things if you don’t want to take time blowing them up one by one.

Waffle Blocks

Waffle Blocks are making a comeback! Build them according to instruction, or just put them together however you please. It’s easier than legos, a better connection than blocks, and builds the imagination. I’ve seen them at Little Tikes and look forward to trying them out with my kids!

Books

There are a lot of fun books out there! They can both entertain and teach preschoolers, long before they can read. My kids love reading, and a new book is always exciting. Silver Dolphin and Usborne both have geat books to choose from.

Egg Coloring Experiences

Simply have fun coloring hard boiled eggs. Stores have lots of kits to choose from, from basic colors to metallic or sparkly or so much more. Or make “dinosaur eggs” by cracking the shells all over after boiling then letting them sit in dye for a while. This will leave lines of color on the egg itself wherever the shell is cracked. This year we are going to try shaving cream eggs: swirl food coloring into shaving cream in a pad, the place the hard boiled eggs inside and leave them for 30 minutes. They should take on the swirled/tie-dye color of the shaving cream.

Buckets

Buckets, baskets and bags. First for collecting the hidden prizes, then for playing! My preschoolers love carrying things around with them. So the cardboard buckets have cool pictures, but they don’t hold up to the indoor/outdoor trauma that my kids put them through. Buckets and baskets hold up better and can help them carry whatever toys they want. Walmart has pretty buckets for just $1, so it’s pain free!

Plant a Garden

Celebrate springtime by planting a garden with them. They can help plant the family garden, or give them their own pot or patch to plant for themselves. Then include them in the watering and share the excitement of watching things grow!

Rocks

Really?!? Yes. I came across this somewhere on Facebook a while back and loved the idea! Have your kids collect rocks in their easter basket, then talk about how sin is like rocks; it weighs us down and can hurt. Talk about age-appropriate sins, like whining and being selfish. Later, out of sight, move the rocks to a Jesus basket so they can refill their basket with good things  Then talk about how Jesus took away our sins so we could fill our lives with good. Super simplified, but a good start to covering sin and forgiveness for preschoolers!

Puff Chicks

I might love these as much as my kids. For $1 at the dollar store, they light up, stand up, and are fun to squish. Or find the little wind up rabbits that walk around. They do pop if chewed on, so buy extra if your kiddo is going to be heartbroken.

Stuffed Animals

You don’t have to get the typical bunny or chick animal. My 2.5 year old is all about the unicorn we found at the thrift store.

Shoes

Maybe it’s weird, but my kids love shoes. And they both were in need of water-friendly shoes for summer, so the thrift store wins again with new-to-us shoes.

Bath Toys

My kids love bath toys. They have lots and they are forever asking for more. Fun toys like the Nuby Octopus Bath Time Toss. Or a fishing pole game. Have fun choosing!

Moms and dads, any other good Easter suggestions?
Enjoy your Easter!
