This week marks the celebratory ‘Pi Day’ – The week where my husband is trying his best to memorize as many numbers of Pi that he can, because his work holds a contest, where they recite as many by mouth as they can. It’s also the week where I have an excuse to serve Pie to my family.
Most people don’t realize that National PIE day (not Pi/π day) is actually in January. I celebrated that day, too… but not as many people know about that day!
So this week as I was grocery shopping and got near the Marie Callender’s Pies and pot pies – I decided to pick up a couple large pie for all of us, and a few smaller individual pies (for ThoSe Days… when pie is the only answer…) as well as a Pot Pie.
I’ve always really been one to make my own dinner style pot pies, and am obsessed with the ones that I make at Let’s Dish – But a close runner-up in taste (and a BIG winner as far as money and time goes) is the Marie Callender’s Pot Pies. I haven’t found a flavor yet that I don’t like.
Thinking about Easter and all the flavors that go around Easter, I wasn’t exactly sure where to start with pie flavors – so I bought the two that felt most spring-like to me – Banana Cream Pie and the Very Berry Blackberry pie.
I was most excited about Banana Cream Pie, but I have strange tastebuds when it comes to creamy things like yogurt and pudding. The pie tasted great, but I couldn’t eat it. My family loved it though! To prepare this pie, simply defrost it in your fridge.
So last night we baked the Very Berry Blackberry Pie, which was most declicious! So SO good. I’d eat that every night if I could! This will definitely be one I purchase again and again. It does take a little bit to prepare, baking it for a while and waiting patiently (Patience?? What’s that?!) for it to cool before you eat… I cut into it a bit early….
