I love that kids are now learning Spanish in school from a young age. My youngest learned a bunch of spanish words this year while in pre-school, and next year in Kindergarten he will be starting a whole new spanish program. They learn immersion-style from a spanish teacher who comes to their classroom every day. My oldest son who is finishing 1st grade has already learned SO much! I love learning right alongside him, and always encourage him to go one step further.
I recently was contacted to review the book and app for Canticos: Los Pollitos / Canticos: Little Chickies
Canticos is taking a collection of 12 beloved nursery rhymes and songs and making beautiful lift-the-flap novelty board books: the nursery rhyme is presented with one side of the book in its native Spanish language and a new rhyming English language translation on the other side.
We also were able to play with the app – My boys love the app! The app is available on iTunes and Google Play for $2.99. They love to make little egg faces, play along the ‘piano’ or strum the guitar with the nursery rhyme.
It helped me to know what the tune of the nursery rhyme is, since I’ve never heard the Los Pollitos song before.
The boys love it when I sing along as we turn the pages of the book, and especially love it when I am able to sing both the english and spanish versions, so they understand what I’m saying when I sing in spanish.
Then it’s great because they can play in the app and learn all the different language translations of the rhyme, there are 8 languages to choose from in the ‘radio’ section of the app.
