Leap Frog Rockin’ Guitar Review + Contest

A few weeks ago I signed up on a project with my friends at Clever Girls – to work with them and Leap Frog – to promote their new Leap Frog Touch Magic toys.

At the time I didn’t really understand the whole concept behind Touch Magic – But we love Leap Frog, and the toys looked like they were perfect for my boys.

When we got them, I was extra surprised to see them!  They really were super awesome.

We received the Rockin’ Guitar, and the Learning Bus – but today I’m just talking about the Rockin’ Guitar.

We opened the box, and realized that Touch Magic really meant – touch.  Not ‘push’ or ‘strum’.

The guitar is flat.  Awesome, Right??

First things First:  I *love* when packages are easy open like this.  Simply twist, and pull.

Honestly, I wish they advertised for this easy opening, because I would buy only toys with this feature for Christmas – because you KNOW the kids want to get into it – and we have to have the scissors and knives and all sorts of muscle around as we’re opening the boxes.

But not ONLY is the guitar flat – it also weighs about 1 1/2 lbs.  I mean, its SOOO thin and SUPER light.  Making it easy for any child to carry around.DSC04654

There is a neck strap – but it has a safety release, so should your child get tangled up, it will release.    Although, I still prefer not to have the strap, because my 1 1/2 year old was able to partially strangle himself by wrapping the thing around his neck twice.. so we detached the string all together.  No biggie.DSC04841

There are three settings: Off, Quiet, and Loud.   The loud really isn’t so bad.  I assumed that we had it on the quiet setting after playing for a bit – but it was actually on the loud.DSC04844

I also think that the songs that are played are not that obnoxious, and there is definitely enough variety in songs that you don’t get too annoyed.

My 1 1/2 year old doesn’t ever push the button to select a new song, so when the same song has played enough times, I simply go touch the button. It takes just a simple second and you’re on a new song!

Andrew got to play with the guitar first – and he was pretty excited about it.  He loved that some of his favorite songs were on there, and that he could make the songs change depending on how fast or slow he strummed.

After a while he started ‘sit-dancing’.   Which I thought was cute – but unfortunately I didn’t get a video of him (as hard as I tried!)

Speaking of a video: There is a Contest!

If you create a video of your child playing with the Rockin’ Guitar or another guitar that you make out of your own materials – and upload it to www.touchmagic.leapfrog.com , you will be entered for the chance to win $500!

So get creative, and get Jammin’!! Open-mouthed smile

Cute toy and a great one for little boys. I could see my grandson with one, he loves music and sometimes acts like playing a guitar because he has seen them on tv.
