Why Franchising Is a Good Business for Moms

Today’s moms want to be able to raise their children and be home with them. I know I didn’t want to miss important milestones or school events like many working moms must miss.  I wanted to bake cookies all day… ha.ha.ha. #sarcasm

But the big problem really came down to income.  I needed to work in order to supplement our family’s incomes.

I’ve really found it hard to find a way to have both:  But – I’m home, right?

Life sort of ‘forced’ me into being a SAHM about 3 months after I had Andrew – I literally counted my days away from work with statements like, ‘Only 41 more days to find a stay-at-home-job!’.

I went back to work from my maternity leave – only to shortly thereafter be let-go from the position.  Wait, WHAT? I knew we were going to sink.  FAST.  We had just spent the majority of our savings in order for me to be home for 3 months!

I tried everything possible in order to have work as a Dental Hygienist – but in Minneapolis we are WAY over-saturated with hygienists graduating by the hundreds each year.  My opportunities were slim, and fairly non-existent.  Especially when I had a newborn AND a Toddler!

My answer for successful income while staying at home didn’t come until recently.  This blog for me, has been a great source of income.  But then others OFTEN ask how they, too can make the blog world work for them.  I really don’t know how to answer that.  It’s a ton of work, a huge commitment, and a lot of passion involved.

But for others who don’t enjoy figuring things out alone, writing, or sharing themselves online – franchising opportunities might be a good place to look.

8_listing.jpgFranchising is totally not limited to opening your own storefront.  Franchising as things like – nail technicians, massage technicians, or even party planning.  Building on where your strengths are!

Franchising provides you with the products, marketing and strategies that come with that business. And almost always includes training and support that comes from the franchising company.  They’ve got your back!

This is an ideal business for some moms; because they do not have to reinvent the wheel.  True, they may have some wonderful ideas, but it can be a lot of work to establish your own service or product. So franchising takes out the hard aspects of creating your own business from scratch, while giving you the freedom of incorporating your ideas!

Franchises have a high rate of success in today’s economy, which is important. While taking risks is difficult, going with a franchise is less of a risk than building your own business from scratch.

Over the same time period, franchises developed by moms only see about 3% fail vs. a startup businesses with several risk areas.  With such a high rate of success, it is clearly obvious that franchising is a brilliant choice for moms. If you want to learn more you can visit www.workingmums.co.uk.

I had looked into the thought of franchising a cupcake store instead of going back to work after having Andrew.  Wouldn’t that have been awesome?  Going from Dental Hygienist and cleaning peoples teeth – all the way to baking sweets and sugary goods to help destroy peoples teeth?? Winking smile  J/K  – I do {HearT} cupcakes though.

This could be a wonderful idea for some moms. Using their talent to franchise off another service. NOT for you – we like what you are doing now just fine lol!
For mom’s that want or need to work away from home this would be an idea to consider. Not everyone has the funds to even try to start their own business though.

I’m more attracted to your blog concept. I feel now like I put so much energy into other people’s blogs that I could maybe harness that energy for our family, but I’m intimidated when I see blogs that have thousands of followers. It’s not the writing, I write like a maniac, it’s the management that seems intimidating.

The party looks like so much fun. But my favorite picture is the little boy in front of all those no bake cookies with chocolate all over his face. It reminds me of cooking with my nieces and nephews
