Micah loves bugs. And dirt. And all things outdoors. Sometimes the highlight of his day is catching and examining an ant! So he was thrilled when we received a Learning Resources Primary Science Outdoor Discovery Set to review!
The Primary Science Outdoor Discovery Set comes with everything your little learner needs to learn about two big outdoor joys: bugs and plants!
I’m not a huge fan of bugs, but Micah is. I want to encourage his love of anything outdoors as well as foster any bit of learning I can. So, we love that the kit includes a grabber to catch bugs and two jars to keep them in. The ladybug-lid jar in also a magnifying lid to get a closer look at the little details that make bugs pretty awesome.
The Learning Resources Primary Science Outdoor Discovery Set also includes kid-size planters and a watering can! Micah adores looking at and watering our garden, so he loves even more that he can plant and water his own little plants. The plastic cups will hold up well, I do wish they had little holes in the bottom because he has a tendency to over water. Every time. We’ve killed a lot of up-rooted and re-planted grass and weeds so far!
The whole set is made out of strong plastic, so it survives many drops on our concrete. It’s also survived many failed attempts to catch bugs or grow plants. Somehow the bugs seem to know they need to run away from Micah! I expect it to last through years of fun with both kids!

This so reminds me of my grandson. He collected every bug, worm, frog and snake he could find. He would have loved this.
This is such a nice way to get the kids into planting. I will have them do the gardening!
I love all this! Learning Resources has some wonderful things for kids. The best way for kids to learn is to *do* something, to *work* on something.
