I am all for my little ones cleaning, and they love to help! But my brooms are twice their height, spray bottles are dangerous for electronics (we know from experience!), and even the handheld vacuum is too heavy and noisy. Just in time for spring cleaning, the Clean It kit supplies them with everything they need to help you around the house! This set includes a duster, dustpan, spray bottle, sponge, bottle of cleaner, and hand vac that rattles and rolls.
All the parts of the New Sprouts Clean It kit are perfect for little hands. My 3 year old and my 1.5 year old both love the pieces and can handle them with no problem. Mostly plastic with some rubber handles and soft parts, the cleaning tools are good for any pretend job. I love that the soap bottle and spray bottle are fake. They can pretend and I don’t have to worry about real soap, water, or any sort of chemicals being sprayed here there and everywhere while they “clean.”
The brush and sponge are rubber, which is fine for the sponge since I don’t want it to soak up anything anyways (pretend is WAY safer). I do with the brush would have real bristles. The rubber brush is hard to sweep with because it sticks a bit and is totally useless at actually sweeping, which is the one safe cleaning task they enjoy doing. I also wish there were little bristles on the vacuum to roll little pieces into the container. The roller makes a shaker noise and the container can be disconnected to empty it, but my son gets frustrated that it doesn’t actually pick anything up.
Other than being totally pretend and thus non-functional, the Clean It! kit is perfect. My kids love being able to pretend to clean, I love that there isn’t any real liquid involved, and the cats love that they aren’t being chased by a real vacuum.
