What to Buy for Pregnancy
Prenatal Vitamins
Total necessity. And the cheap ones are fine, as long as they don’t make you nauseous. You and baby need the extra vitamins, so buy them and keep them where you will remember to take them everyday.
Pregnancy Guide Book
There a hundreds of pregnancy books out there. And they all have good tips. My absolute favorite book: The Christian Mama’s Guide to Having a Baby. Everything you need to know to survive (and love) pregnancy. By Erin MacPherson. Christian or not, this is a great read! It left me wishing she also had a book for raising the baby!
Pregnancy Clothes
Around 3 or 4 months, all of a sudden, your normal clothes won’t fit. You’ll need maternity clothes for the stretchy waistbands and the longer, looser shirts. And bigger bras. Tight budget? Check out Goodwill and Salvation Army for clothes, or chat with recently-pregnant friends who can loan you theirs. And buy nursing bras so you can use them during and after pregnancy!
Food
Ok, food is always a necessity. During pregnancy, you’ll want more snacks throughout the day. Healthy snacks are good, and be ready for cravings! I’ve been lucky and not had crazy cravings, mostly fruit and sherbet.
Pillows
For your head, back, knees and everything else that aches as you get bigger.
A Water Bottle
For work and home, you need lots of water so keep it filled and drink up. Use water flavoring squirty things if you need some flavor!
A Friend
Whether a friend or your hubby, have someone to whine to and talk about pregnancy with, and bring you your recent craving while you put your boated body on the couch for a rest.
A Belly Support Belt – Maybe
I didn’t need one with Micah. But 12 hour shifts on my feet with never-regained-their-strength belly muscles with this girly, a basic Walmart support belt has made a huge difference. If you are on your feet a lot, good shoes are also a huge must.
And a camera to take all of those growing belly shots!

A belly support belt helps a lot with back pain, and the body pillow that wrap around you like a cloud are awesome!
