Women Matter

Women need to quit looking down on other women. Period. I recently had a conversation with a friend who decided (with her husband) to quit her job and be a stay-at-home mom, and she actually got some grief for it because ”other people might be offended”! And then I read the article that’s been flooding facebook that is totally off-base and bashing stay-at-home moms. Seriously? Women, why do we give each other grief?

God created us all unique and put us all in unique situations.

Some women are called to work. That’s awesome! They have passion for their work, and they should be working. And we should celebrate their accomplishments just as much as we celebrate babies and weddings! We should throw them parties for getting a great job, or writing that great paper, or whatever else they are proud of. And we should support them!

Some women are meant to explore, or not marry, or not have kids, etc. And we should celebrate them too! We should throw a party when they backpack across Europe, or when they run a marathon, or beat all the boys at softball, or go on mission trips!

Some women are called to “do it all.” They find satisfaction in their work and life and in their families; they get babysitters or daycare and they do it all. And they should do it all, as long as they can and have the passion to. There is nothing wrong with a working mom! We should support them in all their endeavors!

And there are women who have the calling and the passion to stay at home. They want to cook, clean, raise kids, volunteer at church, cook for the local food kitchen, and love on their community. And we should celebrate them too. That article claimed this was the easy way out and lazy, but it’s not! Yes, some women ruin it and are bad moms, bad wives, bad citizens, and bad examples. But that doesn’t represent all stay at home moms! Staying home with kids and contributing to the community is hard work and actually the abnormality now.

So, ladies, quit bashing on each other and each other’s callings and choices! I love being a nurse, but lately my passion for nursing has been dwindling and I just want to be home taking care of my little man and volunteering at church. I miss lots of church functions and I feel like I should be doing more to support my husband and Valley Christian. I will always like being a nurse, so I have to find the right balance and follow God’s calling on how to use my time, the right way for me and my family.

Thanks for reading my little rant. If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the people abusing the welfare system or using government money to buy cigarettes and junk food, not at women trying to do what they feel is right for their families.

Not mad at you the tiniest bit. That is exactly why I feel the only women you should really trust are your Grandmom, Mom and Sister. I have seen BFF’s crucify each other when one of them leaves.
