Baby in Bliss CD Review {Giveaway Closed}

I recently got an opportunity to review and offer a giveaway on the Baby in Bliss CD. The CD is marketed as “a powerful conscious experience for you and your baby”, “featuring a collection of powerful healing drum beats”… “helping us to remember who we are”; which to be totally honest, scares me. But – I listened to some of the preview songs online, and thought I’d give it an honest listen or two and see how it goes!
The Baby in Bliss CD is really a CD that focuses on the drum beat. It is a lot like the heart beat and therefore can be really enjoyed by a newborn feeling closer to moms belly. There are 11 songs: Peace, Spirit, Beauty, Blessed, Gratitude, Compassion, Joy, Faith, Love, Freedom, and Bliss.
When I got the CD, I immediately put it into my computer, and a preview of the DVD popped up. My 2 year old was around me, and so we watched it together. My son really likes the video portion of it, and wanted to watch it again and again! He kept pointing at the floating baby and saying ‘baby!’.
Then we listened to the CD – It sounds more like a combination of tranquil type music you would expect to hear at the SPA, some songs mixed with an African beat and some a Southern Gospel tone. It has lyrics that direct your thoughts towards how blessed, grateful, and loving you are for your life and for God (Universally). So it is pleasantly surprising even for this non-‘new-age’ family. I’ve now been playing the CD all night – and found my favorite song is really the Blessed track. It is more upbeat and Andrew bounced around the house while we listened to it singing ‘way-oh, way-oh’ which was really cute and got our energy level up for the evening.

To be honest, I have to say I find myself rolling my eyes at the insert booklet. ‘Guidelines for music and drumming’ when it talks about focusing your inner thoughts and breathing the ‘God Breath’ and asking the ‘spirit’ for guidance. Mostly because I know that they’re talking about a universal God and not God, the Father. But then again, that is just my thoughts towards the whole new-age spectrum all together. I am not a very.. new-age, green environmentalist, sensual type person. Don’t get me wrong, I do not necessarily judge others who are new-age, and focus on their inner spirituality by doing yoga/tai-chi and listening to empowering music. It just does not do it for me. I am a Christian, and I am spiritual – I get into Christian worship music really easily – In fact, that is my number one music preference. I love glorifying God through my actions and my thoughts and even my music.
So even though I wouldn’t necessarily promote the CD the way they are promoting it, as a ‘positive energy’ source of thoughts and music – I still really like the CD and will continue to listen to it and play it regularly in my home. I’m sure our 10 week old appreciates this as his background music over any cartoon music we could have on; my two year old son loves the catchy beats; and I enjoy the calmness that it creates in the house.
