Waterpik Water Flosser for Kids

May 24, 2011

So school sessions are soon coming to an end for this year.  Being a Dental Hygienist it’s a very interesting time of the year.  Summer (especially June) means that all the kids are coming in practically by the bus load to get their teeth cleaned.  SO many of these kids have spent the past several months half-neglecting their teeth.

One of my favorite products to recommend to kids (and adults alike) is a Waterpik.  Ok – The Waterpik isn’t for everyone.  If your child has a hard time even using his toothbrush – then I would jump out on a limb and say that a Waterpik isn’t going to get much use either.  But. If you have one of those kids (or even you yourself) that is a little more concerned about their appearance and oral hygiene – then the Waterpik Water Flosser for kids is a great tool.

What I love most about the Waterpik – and what I hear from patients who use and love the Waterpik – is that when you’re using the Waterpik after you’ve already brushed and flossed – you can STILL see crud (food particles/plaque) coming out of your teeth, and flowing into the sink.

Do your kids have braces?? This is the BEST tool they can use besides a toothbrush.  It will be easier to manipulate than floss; and will get their teeth much cleaner in the long run – as long as the water is being directed into the teeth, and not onto a sibling Winking smile

I recommend anyone that has any interest in getting their teeth to the next level of healthy to give the Waterpik a try – as soon as you give it the ‘after brushing/flossing’ test and see more crud coming out, you will be hooked.  I would almost guarantee that your hygienist will notice the difference, and your cleanings will be easier and much more comfortable for you!
