Google Plus: Claiming or Shortening your URL

November 27, 2011

So, A lot of bloggers out there are in the same boat right now.  We’re coming to the realization that Google Plus is going to be another realm of social media that we have to tackle.

The problem is – is that it can be quite confusing and complicated at first.

After you have your Google+ profile set up – How do you tell people about it?  Because it really isn’t mattering how many people YOU have in your circles – it’s more about how many people have you in Their circles!

So when you try to find your URL for your google+ profile – it’s weird… and long.

So… If I’m telling someone to check out my Google+ page – they have to remember all that that or I have to link to that somehow.  Not exactly user-friendly.

So to get your own – very nice permanent shortened version of the Google+ URL – you simply go to http://plus.ly

Type in the name that you would like to claim:  You can claim more than one – but I’m not sure how long that will last?

And then Copy those numbers from your long URL into the box.

Then Claim your username.

Here’s Mine!

I’m going to be sharing a few more things with you guys about Google+ soon.  I’m still figuring it out myself.

I would love it if you add me to your circles!
